Dr. Jesse Waggoner, Senior Pastor
After
25 years of Pastoral ministry I am so thankful that the Lord's path
has led me to serve at Mount Calvary Baptist. I grew up in West
Virginia and spent twelve years as Associate Pastor at Bible Center
Church here in the Kanawha Valley. I previously served as pastor of
New Hope Bible Church in Bridgeport, WV and Calvary Baptist Church
in Portsmouth, Ohio. My wife, Julie, and I have three grown
children all of whom are serving the Lord in various ways. If
you want to know more, please visit my website at
www.WaggonerMedia.com
where you will find links to Bible teaching materials, my online
video teaching ministry and
blog.
It is my prayer that as we open the Word of God each week at Mount
Calvary that God will teach us all how to live, serve and glorify
Him.

John Hopkins, Worship Pastor
I have the privilege to serve a great church as music and worship
pastor. I am a local boy that grew up in the upper Kanawha Valley. I
attended Marshall University (go herd) before going to Virginia to
teach. I spent many years teaching and performing before God invited
me into His ministry. At that point I went to Southeastern Baptist
Theological Seminary to gain my Masters degree.
I have served in full time ministry for 18 years in North
Carolina and West Virginia. I have performed and recorded with many
professional groups but my favorite thing is to lead worship and
sing God’s praise.
God has blessed me with a wonderful wife, Chris, and four awesome
kids, Allison, April, Austin and Aaron. My favorite thing to do is
spend time with my family.
I play most instruments but my main music maker is percussion. I
love all types of music but my favorite is Jazz.
My goal in life is to connect people with their God through a
worship experience. contact:

Lisa Heller, Director of Children’s Ministry and Office Manager
Hi, I am Lisa Heller and I am the Director of Children’s Ministry
and Office Manager here at MCBC. In this position I oversee the
ministries of Preschool, Children, and KidStuf. I graduated from
Cedarville University and have worked in Children’s and Family
Ministry for 18 years.
I trained for 7 years in Madison, Wisconsin, in a children’s
ministry of over 200 children. Most of this training came through my
mentor at High Point Church, Wayne Rockwell, as well as through Sue
Miller at Willow Creek. When my family moved back to my hometown of
Charleston, we became involved in coaching high school volleyball,
student ministries, and children’s ministry.
Through many trips to the “Grow Up” and “Orange” Conferences in
Atlanta, Georgia, we have brought back concepts that bring families
together in shared environments, like our KidStuf program. This
production has given me the opportunity to play the role of “Darcie”
as well as to produce and direct it. Playing this zany character has
been one of the highlights of my ministry career.
When the children that attended our programs struggled with the
Awana curriculum, I created a new program for Wednesday evenings
called Jumpstreet. In Jumpstreet, we connect leaders to children for
the purpose of helping parents teach their children the Biblical
values that they will need as they grow.
My ministry career is supported by my husband, Chris, who plays a
huge part in children’s ministry, coaches volleyball, as well as
being a teen ministry leader and deacon. Each of my three children:
Kayla, Jace, and Jaron, participate and serve in various aspects in
our programs. Our ministry is made possible by a wonderful team of
volunteers who give their time, efforts, and love for God to create
a place where children want to learn about God. My goal in life is
to connect families to God through creating relevant, shared
environments where families can learn and grow together. contact:

Tim Britton, Associate and Youth Pastor
Hello, I am Pastor Tim, and I have been serving as Associate and Youth pastor at Mount Calvary since 2006. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Appalachian Bible College in 2004, and I also received a Master’s degree in Pastoral
Counseling from Liberty University in 2009. I also attended West Virginia State as well as Tennessee Temple University in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
My wife Kelly and I were married in 1998, and she is the true example of what a help mate represents. Kelly graduated from Tennessee Temple University with an English major and has served in Japan and Hawaii teaching the English language to children and adults. She enjoys teaching fourth grade. We love to travel, cook, and make each other laugh.
God has allowed me to work with teens for many years in many different areas for which I am truly thankful. I have served as a volunteer assistant in public and Christian schools as a football, basketball, and baseball coach as well. I truly enjoy teaching and working with the youth and my desire is to see them connect with God and to have a personal relationship with Him. Our goal here at Mount Calvary is that the teens learn to worship, serve, and live a life that is pleasing to Him and show the community of Charleston that God is alive today. contact:
